Same Blog, New Look!

Just wanted to let all my readers know that the blog is in the process of improvement.

The objective is to make it as useful and relevant to you all without a lot of "unnecessary clutter".

All the original posts are still here here. A new one will be up by tomorrow.

For those of you who have been following my progress with my New Year's resolutions, you might remember that this was the month for me to undertake a major photography project. For reference, here is the original resolutions post: Nine for '09 and January Update: Nine for '09

Well, today was the second all day photography class. There will be four in the series. I am absolutely loving every second of it! And learning so much!

So that you can follow my progress, I have now embedded a slide show of some of the shots I've taken with some of the techniques. The slide show is just below the YouTube Bloomberg channel on the right.

Why "Reasoning the Reasons"?

Jamaicans love to engage in "reasoning".

Translation for all the non-Jamaicans: what that means is we are a culture of people - with strong individual opinions - who love to have discussions on everything - especially matters of global and social importance.

As a developing country, we feel the effects of decisions made by the developed countries - those richer and more powerful. Historically, we are given many "reasons" for their actions - actions that do not produce the results (more "reasons") they tell us to expect.

Therefore, we find ourselves trying to make sense of what appears sometimes to be nonsense. We find ourselves trying to figure out the methods behind the apparent madness. Most importantly, we find ourselves trying to "keep on keeping on" - otherwise known as survive. That is reasoning. And it is part and parcel of what makes us Jamaicans.

As Bob Marley said: "There is so much trouble in the world". How true. And we hear many "reasons". And we are given even more "reasons" for the solutions and that many more "reasons" for the failures of the solutions.

In true Jamaican style, this blog is just "reasoning the reasons".

I look forward, not back.

I do not blame, I analyze.

I observe, comment, and question.

And the objective? It's a better world for all people and generations to come.
